Akai Headrush, Lehle A B box, and making music again

I’m in jonesin’ for two pedals right now. Since I have an Ampeg V-4 which has two inputs, each with their own gain controls, I have the ability to do some cool dynamic things. Turn one input down for a “cleaner” sound, and the other up for the “dirty” sound. All I need is a good A B box to control it. Here’s the one I’ve been thinking of:

    Lehle A B box

Also, since I’m without a loop pedal after selling my loop station and I imagine Matt will be using his Line 6 delay (which has a loop), I’m looking for a new looper. After seeing Young Widows, and hearing how great the guitarist Evan Patterson’s loop pedal sounded and how logical it functioned, I’m in the market for an Akai Headrush as well.

Akai Headrush E1 I was almost certain I’d win one of these the other day on eBay. The pedal was at $50 with 17 hours to go and I bid $160. Still lost the auction in the last 30 seconds. Nowadays I get beat by someone willing to sacrifice more dough than being more deft at the last minute bid. I didn’t want to spend more than $200 on it, but the guy who won did. Oh well. They seem to go once a week, I’m sure I’ll get one soon enough. I wish the A B box from Lehle wasn’t quite so much. It’s about $230, which is quite a bit for a pedal that just turns your signal on and off. It’s supposed to be pretty dang good from what I read. I think Matt has one too, and he hasn’t ever complained, though his isn’t an A B as much as it is a signal splitter. I can’t wait to try both these pedals out once I get them.

I can’t wait to play music again more than anything actually. Once the holidays are over we’re supposed to start making beautiful music again. I’m so excited. I hope it will boost my overall satisfaction with life, and help me feel like I’m doing something really worth my time. I hope I’m not over-thinking it, and setting my hopes up too high. I’d like to write some new songs, record a pretty good ep, and get it out there. Maybe even get some indie label interest. Either way, I’m pretty stoked to fire up by rig again. I haven’t played it but once for some recording since finishing the God Will Break Your Wooden Ships Wedding March ep for my wedding this past August. It’ll be good to play again.

This is the first personal, “journal-like” entry since the inception of chasemacri.com Congratulations on reading it, and to myself, on writing it.
