PILOTS 2007 Demo

After graduating from Greenville in 2006, my band (which was then referred to) When Sorrow Fails when on tour. After tour we buckled down, wrote some songs we were proud of and recorded with me using Greenville’s studios (thanks to my favorite prof., Mike Johnson!) Before we took the weekend to track the songs, I called up Matt Goldman (the guy who did the Chariot, Copeland and others) and got him to mix the tracks for us. His mix was sent to Alan Douches at West West Side Music (Converge, Mastodon, Sufjan Stevens) to master and the result was pretty satisfying.

I’ve made the EP available online here: http://stlpilots.bandcamp.com/. You can download it for free in many formats including high quality mp3s, FLAC and others. I’ll be uploading our 2008 three song, and the final full length once it’s finished. So keep an eye out.

…like I want to move so bad this past week or two. I’ve run so many possibilities through my head. They include:

- Nashville, with M. Good. Well, near M. Good. And eventually the Futures.
- Hampton, back home, which is where I will be some day.
- Atlanta, internship with M. Goldman.
- Chicago, internship with Chicago Recording Company (I have an interview for the position as “intern” in March)
- PA., with J. Brit. I forget what city he lives in, but I was more thinking when he goes to grad school, we could get an apartment, and I’ll be his roomy.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about this communal living thing. I want it to happen, but it seems like most of us want to let life live us rather than the other way around, sort of. I think we need to make it happen. It’s just unrealistic without some grinding of gears, and teeth.

I feel like this band is going nowhere.

I’ve been praying a lot about healing, I want to see it happen so bad.

finished tracking the ep in greenville. it sounds good.

matt goldman’s mixing it starting (maybe) this week. it’ll be mixed by second week of october.

hopefully alan douches (west west side music) is mastering it. hopefully.

me, rob and matt and wholly committed. seemingly the only ones

my new job is kinda boring, but i always have work to do, and im making 11.75 an hour. hopefully debt will be decreasing.

i oughta have internet in my house in a couple weeks (which means you get to not read what i right more often. tee hee)

i oughta have a car of my own again in about a month tops.

Okay, okay.

Brandon Ross is apparently the only person who wants to know, but he’s enough…
We’re gonna go back to Greenville in two weeks and records 4 new songs, and do some more overdubs on Terror, and send them to be mixed by Atlanta’s Matt Goldman. Matt produced such great sounding records including Copeland’s Beneath the Medicine Tree, the Chariot’s two releases as well as one of the guys who worked on the new Underoath cd. He’s done many other records before, and seems to be the perfect fit for this EP. More details will come in the next month or so. In the meantime, check out Kate’s blog.
